Sjörätt

This paper was presented on the 19th September 2008 by associate professor Johan Schelin at a conference in Stockholm on the unification of law, arranged by the New York State Bar Association. The paper deals primarily with the ratification process to come and factors of importance in this process. Will the new Convention become a success and replace the existing Hague, Hague Visby and Hamburg liability regimes? Or will the Convention just become a fourth set of international liability rules for maritime carriage?
